1. This wonderful sand painting was sent to me by Mario Petrucci. I could never have imagined anything so amazing made from sand. This is the winner of 'Ukraine's Got Talent': KSENIYA SIMONOVA, 24. Using nothing but illuminated sand and a soundtrack, she depicts the passage of events in one Ukrainian town ravaged by invasion. The 'Great Patriotic War' (as it is termed in Ukraine) claimed one in four of the population. CLICK HERE:

2. Took the car to the garage - nothing creative about this I thought until we got talking about Dunorlan - he told me about skating on the lake as a boy (and pushing anotherboy into the ice!), and swimming in the summer. Explained how there used to be a proper stream that ran through the park (a muddy trickle today), into the top pool, then the lake, then the ornamental pools, into the fountain, and on past the convent school, to the abattoir. That story brought the park and its history alive for me. It is not enough to know something from daily walks, you need a narrative.
3. Snow - we exchange our snow stories at work. We all want to know what is going to happen next.
