Painting and other distractions

1. My daughter goes off to uni today through the snowy wilds of London to Leeds, and I get out my easel, hoping that concentrating on my half finished painting of the bench by Bewl will take my mind off the empty house.

2. I think about painting snow, and about Monet, Sisley and Pissarro's snow paintings - how they used every colour in the white, especially blue and yellow. I wish I could go to National Gallery now and take a close look then come home and squeeze out my paints.

3. On my way home from the park I see someone has made a mini snowman (a snowchild?) on top of a car. It makes me laugh.
