Creativity at work?

1. I am asked to a do a desk audit, and find that 17 people do not have their own desks. My boss asks me to give it some thought: 'be creative.'

2. I chat to a colleague about making some chairs, and he admits to loving woodwork at school. We talk about the importance of inspirational teachers. He says that woodwork involves the whole self, mind and body - and wood is so tactile. Then he adds, but it's not as good as pot throwing, 'then you really have to go with the flow'. I think about the erotic pot throwing scene in 'Ghost' and decide to sign up for pottery classes as soon as possible.

3. I think about 'writing from the body' and wonder how my writing would change if I took up woodwork or pottery. Or if I didn't have to spend most of my working hours in an office. I am too tired in the evenings to do anything creative.
